Chatyr-Kul Deposit

The Chatyr-Kul Deposit has the largest resources of carbonated water in Kyrgyzstan: they are estimated at 50 l/s, which theoretically allows each resident of our country to receive 12 bottles of mineral water per year.

The Chatyr-Kul Deposit is located on the southern shore of the eponymous high-altitude lake in the depression between the Atbashy Range and the Torugart-Tau Range at an absolute height of about 3550 m.

The outcrops of CO2-containing waters are traced in an elongated zone along the lake, extending up to 400 m and up to 20 m wide. Mineral water emerges from the bottom of small lakes, in marshy areas, and through the shaft of an abandoned gravel well drilled during exploration work.

According to the composition of macrocomponents, Chatyr-Kul water belongs to type IV according to GOST 13 273—73, which is currently not bottled. Until 1973, this water was bottled industrially in the city of Naryn and sold under the name "Chatyr-Kul," later renamed "Arashan."

Located near the Bishkek – Torugart highway, which runs along the ancient caravan route from Kashgar to Central Asia, the carbonated waters of the Chatyr-Kul deposit continue to attract travelers today, just as they did centuries ago, with their unique sharp taste and unforgettable view of the continuously bubbling lakes and springs.
