PM2.5 refers to tiny particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the thickness of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They are responsible for the smog characteristic of large cities.
In the global ranking of cities by air quality as of February 15, Bishkek ranks 72nd (as of 11:00 AM).
