The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, reported that Kyrgyzstan will receive $30 million in the form of a loan and $1.79 million as a grant.
The loan funds are provided for a term of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and a zero interest rate. The loan must be repaid by December 15, 2074.
Kerimaliev noted that the first phase of the project includes three key components.
- Combating zoonotic infections: improving disease monitoring in animals, developing effective diagnostic and treatment methods, raising awareness of the risks of transmission of infections from animals to humans.
- Preventing antimicrobial resistance: rational use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine and healthcare, developing alternative treatment methods, preventing the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
- Ensuring food safety: improving sanitary conditions at all stages of production and processing, enhancing product quality control.
