
Amid changes in the currency market, the Russian ruble, Kazakh tenge, and Chinese yuan are rising against the Kyrgyz som. The US dollar remains at the same level, while the euro continues to lose value. This data is provided by the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan and exchange points in Bishkek.
US Dollar:
- Official rate from the NB KR: 87.45 soms (unchanged).
- Average rate at exchange offices: buying — 87.37 soms, selling — 87.79 soms.
Since the beginning of 2026, the dollar rate has decreased by 0.11 percent, which corresponds to a reduction of 0.1 soms. Despite fluctuations in March, the dollar remains the most stable currency for the first quarter.
Euro:
- Official rate from the NB KR: 100.2833 soms (a decrease of 0.24 percent).
- Average rate at exchange offices: buying — 100.66 soms, selling — 101.65 soms.
The euro has weakened significantly. Since the beginning of January (104.3891 soms), its value has fallen by 3.93 percent, which in absolute terms is more than 4 soms.
Russian Ruble:
- Official rate from the NB KR: 1.0765 soms (an increase of 0.31 percent).
- Average rate at exchange offices: buying — 1.060 soms, selling — 1.100 soms.
The ruble demonstrates the highest volatility. Compared to January 1 (1.1438 soms), it has depreciated by 5.88 percent, with the main decline occurring in mid-March when the rate reached a yearly low.
Kazakh Tenge:
- Official rate from the NB KR: 0.1826 soms (an increase of 0.55 percent).
- Average rate at exchange offices: buying — 0.1618 soms, selling — 0.1908 soms.
The tenge has become the most successful currency in the first quarter. Since January, when it was worth 0.1580 soms, the currency of the neighboring country has strengthened by 15.57 percent, showing steady growth throughout all three months of 2026.
Chinese Yuan:
- Official rate from the NB KR: 12.6624 soms (an increase of 0.07 percent).
- Average rate at exchange offices: buying — 12.7 soms, selling — 13 soms.
The yuan continues to grow confidently. Since the beginning of the year (12.56 soms), it has appreciated by 0.82 percent, remaining within stable limits with slight fluctuations in February.
