"TOPOGRAPHIC" establishes connections
Not long ago, the new campus of the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) opened its doors. The university campus is located in the southeastern part of the capital. Those who have had the chance to visit this building have been impressed by its architecture. The pointed line of the building's roof symbolizes the mountain peaks visible on the horizon. The palette used for the facade and the figures in the landscape design is borrowed from shyrdaks, local handmade carpets. The transparent roof fills the building with light and warmth, reminiscent of a trunk in a nomadic yurt. And on the external columns, stones from a local quarry spell out the name of the university – "AUCA." The building is magnificent and modern, evoking admiration from all who have visited it on a tour.
This very venue was chosen by the artists of the contemporary art exhibition "TOPOGRAFICA" in the new gallery of the American University of Central Asia to present their works. The exhibition showcased a non-linear connection between a globalist view of the Central Asian landscape, with its mesmerizing beauty of abstract geometry and graphic reliefs, and an immersive experience in the cultural landscape, rich with visual images seen not from above, but from within.
The exhibition features works by over 25 artists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the USA. The works are displayed in the halls of the educational institution, and students have become regular visitors to the exhibition. They are more closely engaged with art, examining and discussing the works, admiring the authors' ideas.
This exhibition is an artistic exploration of the socio-cultural landscape of the Central Asian region. "TOPOGRAFICA" will run until December 5 in the gallery on the second and fourth floors of the educational institution. Tours and discussion programs are available for visitors on Saturdays: November 7, 14, 21, 28, and December 5 from 10 AM to 5 PM.
