The U.S. President explained: "I imposed a 20% tariff on goods from China due to the fentanyl threat. I have reduced this rate to 10%, and this decision takes effect immediately." He also expressed hope that Xi Jinping is "doing everything possible" to stop the supply of fentanyl.

The largest increase affected China, which in response raised tariffs on American goods. At the height of the conflict, the tariff rates reached 145% on Chinese goods and 125% on American ones.
