At the first meeting of the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh, the deputies unanimously supported the candidacy of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu for the position of Speaker of the Parliament. During the discussion, 5 deputy groups nominated his candidacy, which allowed for consensus among those present.
As a result of the secret ballot, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu was elected as the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh.
87 deputies participated in the voting, of which 84 voted "for" and 3 voted "against."
