Kazakhstan has joined the Council of Peace without making any financial contributions, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
To participate in the Council of Peace, only a sovereign decision is required, not a financial commitment. A country that joins the Council can remain a member for three years.
The Akorda clarified that the voluntary contribution of 1 billion dollars mentioned in the charter is not a mandatory condition for membership. If such a contribution is made within the first year, it will allow the country to extend its participation in the Council beyond the three-year term.
The Council of Peace is an intergovernmental organization established at the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump. On January 22 in Davos, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the charter of the Council of Peace, with leaders and representatives from 18 countries participating in the ceremony.
