On January 24, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev visited several facilities in the Issyk-Ata district, including the Eastern Big Chui Canal, the irrigation canal R-24, and the Tuz Basin. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

During the visit, the minister inspected the condition of the canals and the ongoing repair work being carried out there.

Reference Information:

The Eastern Big Chui Canal, which is 97 kilometers long, irrigates 41,500 hectares of agricultural land. It was put into operation in 1957.

The R-24 canal, located in the territory of the Ayil Okmotu of Jayylma, has a total length of 1,350 meters, all of which is concreted, while the remaining 5,075 meters is an earthen canal. This canal irrigates 1,100 hectares of land. In 2025, the work on concreting a section of 1,480 meters, with a total area of 5,415 m², was completed, and in 2026, it is planned to concrete another section of 1,280 meters with an area of 4,655 m².

As for the Tuz Basin, it was built in 1987 to regulate water resources and, after major repairs, now has a water capacity of 1.8 million m³.

From this basin, additional water is supplied to irrigated lands in the following areas:

- Jayylmin Ayil Aimak, village of Tuz — 1,300 hectares
- City of Kant, village of Luxembourg — 1,100 hectares

This water supply aims to increase crop yields and promote the development of agricultural activities for local farmers.
