Today, January 27, a meeting took place between the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, and the Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan, Hirano Ryuichi. The press service of the parliament reported this event.
During the conversation, the directions for the development of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu congratulated the new ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in the country. He noted that, having familiarized himself with Hirano Ryuichi's biography, he was convinced of his rich experience in diplomacy and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to strengthening Kyrgyz-Japanese relations.
The Chairman emphasized that interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Japan has been actively ongoing since the country gained independence. "The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assists in the implementation of major infrastructure projects and supports initiatives that are necessary for our country. We are also creating conditions for training state and municipal employees in Japan through master's and doctoral programs. Every year, many of our young people receive education in Japan and apply their knowledge upon returning home," he added.
Additionally, Turgunbek uulu noted the successful holding of a meeting of heads of state in the "Japan + Central Asia" format last year and expressed hope for the implementation of the agreements reached there.
He also highlighted the positive results in the development of inter-parliamentary relations, emphasizing the importance of friendship groups among deputies.
Hirano Ryuichi, for his part, thanked Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu for his kind words and constructive proposals and congratulated him on his re-election as Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh.
The ambassador briefly outlined his plans in office, noting that strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of his priorities.
The meeting also addressed the topics of ratifying bilateral agreements and organizing official inter-parliamentary visits.
