The Ministry of Natural Resources has been appointed responsible for the storage and disposal of outdated pesticides.
This decision was made to protect public health and safeguard the environment, as well as to enhance the efficiency of hazardous waste management. It also aligns with Kyrgyzstan's international commitments related to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
In this regard, amendments have been made to the charter of the Ministry of Natural Resources, expanding its powers. The ministry is now officially responsible for the safe storage and disposal of the specified hazardous waste.
Additionally, the ministry has been tasked with attracting international donors to finance projects for the disposal of outdated pesticides and the reclamation of contaminated lands.
The implementation of this resolution will be carried out within the approved staffing levels of the ministry using funds from the republican budget, as well as other sources in accordance with the law.
The resolution will come into effect seven days after its official publication.
