He expressed concern among citizens who fear that the switch to gas will lead to an increase in heating costs for homes.
In response, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev confirmed that in such a case, heating costs would indeed rise.
“The transition of the Bishkek CHPP to gas is an extremely costly decision for the city's residents. Gas tariffs will significantly increase,” he noted.
Moreover, the mayor added that the current equipment at the CHPP is outdated and loses up to 50% of heat before it reaches the end consumer.
He also reported on ongoing work on decentralization, which may lead to a reduction in heating tariffs in the future.
Currently, a draft resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh on the topic "On the environmental situation related to smog" was being discussed.
