Turmush continues its series of publications about former and current law enforcement officers in Kyrgyzstan. In November 2025, the Kyrgyz police will celebrate its 101st anniversary since its establishment.

Talantbek Jumadylov, who lives in Karakol in the Issyk-Kul region, dedicated 36 years of his life to working in law enforcement.

He was born in 1964 and holds two higher education degrees. After graduating from school in 1983, he was drafted into the army. “I served in Ukraine and then in Afghanistan, where I spent 1.5 years as a scout. Upon returning, I worked as a pioneer leader at a school and then at 'Artek'. I also graduated from the Przhevalsky Pedagogical Institute with a degree in psychology,” he shared.

Talantbek says that his teaching skills were noticed, and he was offered a job in the police. “Since 1991, I started teaching Russian to police officers and became a district inspector. I worked in the criminal investigation department for 10 years, and then 9 years in the Internal Affairs Department of the Sverdlovsk district alongside a former minister. We solved serious crimes and worked in forensic science. In 2013, I was the head of a department at the Bishkek City Police Department,” he added.

According to the veteran, his career choice was influenced by his parents, who worked in forensic examination. “I spent my childhood in the morgue, where I was often taken along. Knowing the nuances of an expert's work made it easier for me. I also had the opportunity to travel around Russia, the USA, China, Turkey, and Belarus for professional development,” he noted.

As a forensic expert, Talantbek solved more than 50 serious crimes, including the murder of an elderly couple, where the suspect was an "assistant" of a criminal authority. “After the crime, he fled but was apprehended. Our work was always risky. Once, during the first terrorist attack in the country, I managed to save a girl who was being held hostage by the terrorists,” he recalled.

The incident occurred in the "Voshod" microdistrict in Karakol when three members of a criminal group, led by the "right hand" of the criminal authority A.B., broke into the home of an elderly couple, killed them, and took their money. It was later discovered that they had left the country and were detained in Russia.

Colonel Jumadylov noted that during those years, criminals quickly fled abroad, most often to Moscow and Irkutsk, where Kyrgyz police conducted arrests and brought them back home for prosecution.

Talantbek's children followed in his footsteps and work in the police. Throughout his career, he has received around 60 medals and awards, including titles such as "Best Police Officer" and "Best Criminal Investigator." In 1994, he was recognized as "Best" in the criminal investigation system three times, which earned him a two-room apartment in Bishkek. “My children continue the family tradition and work in the police,” he said.

In 2018, Jumadylov retired.
