Employees of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul Region discovered materials related to the ideology of the banned religious extremist group "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami" during monitoring of the internet space. This organization has been recognized as extremist, and its activities have been prohibited in Kyrgyzstan since 2003.

The press service of the regional police reports that this incident has been recorded in the Criminal Offenses Register, and a preliminary investigation is currently underway.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified — a 53-year-old resident of Karakol, known as A.M. The investigation established that he posted on his Facebook page a message titled "Алтын өндүрүлүүдө, бирок эл жакырчылыкта" ("Gold is being mined, but the people live in poverty").

To conduct a comprehensive assessment of the presented materials, a complex forensic examination was appointed, including linguistic and religious studies evaluations, carried out at a specialized institution under the Ministry of Justice.

According to the results of the examination, it was established that the materials pertain to the activities of "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami," which is banned in the country.

In this regard, the information was entered into the Unified Register of Crimes, and a criminal case was initiated under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning the production and distribution of extremist materials.

The Karakol City Court decided to apply a preventive measure in the form of arrest of the suspect for one month.

The investigation is ongoing.
