At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, held on February 9, 2026, deputy Aisarakhan Abdibaeva drew attention to the recent words of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev, who pointed out the shortage of natural milk in the market of Kyrgyzstan.

The question of why the Ministry of Economy is not taking steps to address this issue was posed by Abdibaeva.

“You control and set the price for milk, yet you do not pay attention to its quality. What is the reason?” she asked.

In response, Deputy Minister of Economy Benazir Nurlanova explained that there is a special methodology for determining the purchasing price of milk.

However, Abdibaeva criticized Nurlanova for her overly long and irrelevant answers.

“Learn to answer briefly and to the point. All you do is evade direct answers,” she exclaimed.

In response, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev defended his colleague, noting that deputies also do not like overly brief answers.

“If there really were no natural milk, as you claim, we would not be able to supply the country 100%,” Kerimaliev explained.

Abdibaeva inquired why milk is imported from abroad if there is enough local product.

To this, Kerimaliev replied that everyone has the right to choose which milk to drink.

“It’s like choosing between economy class and business class on a plane — everyone chooses what they can afford,” he added.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh No. 1950-VII dated March 14, 2024, “On Regulating Purchasing Prices for Milk,” which is being submitted for approval.
