- On Wednesday, February 18, the draft law allowing farmers to grow medicinal plants on agricultural land will be considered at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, according to the published agenda of the parliament.

The initiator of this regulatory act is the Ministry of Agriculture. Amendments were submitted to the parliament on January 22.

As clarified by the ministry, there is currently a ban on the cultivation of medicinal crops on agricultural land in accordance with existing legislation. The Ministry of Agriculture proposes to include such crops as valerian, calendula, sage, saffron, ferula, aconite, arnebia, rhodiola rosea, licorice, sea buckthorn, rosehip, barberry, thyme, and chamomile, as well as St. John's wort, in the category of "medicinal plants".

In addition, a proposal to include the cultivation of these plants in the list of key areas of state support in agriculture will also be considered.
