Ministry of Agriculture: Kyrgyzstan Can Export 17 Types of Agricultural Products
Kyrgyzstan has the potential to export 17 types of agricultural products. Export deliveries are made to several countries: 462 enterprises send products to the EAEU states, 37 to China, 53 to Uzbekistan, 12 to Turkey, and 68 to the United Kingdom. Agricultural products account for about 75% of the total export volume of the country, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Additionally, the ministry reported that Kyrgyzstan has received permission to export honey to the European Union.
To increase the export volumes of leguminous crops, the ministry emphasizes the importance of improving product quality. "Currently, the industry faces systemic problems related to impurity removal, sorting, and compliance with export standards. In some countries, these processes are organized at the state level and bring economic benefits, while in Kyrgyzstan, they remain underdeveloped," the ministry's report notes.
Among other problems highlighted by the ministry, it is worth noting the use of leguminous crops primarily as animal feed and for the needs of educational institutions, which limits their export potential. It is also necessary to consider transportation costs when entering foreign markets and to maintain competitive prices for products.
In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes the need for a comprehensive renewal of the agricultural sector, including the development of crop production, the correct selection of varieties, increasing yields, cooperation among producers, entering stock exchanges, and careful calculation of logistics costs.
