In 2026, it is planned to sow 418,764 hectares of arable land in the Chui region. Of this area, 269,698 hectares will be irrigated, with an expected supply of 850 million cubic meters of water for 4-5 rounds of irrigation. This was stated by Sanjar Zhantaev, the first deputy representative of the president in the Chui region, at a recent regional meeting.
He emphasized that in 2025, 626.42 million cubic meters of water were used for irrigation needs. "There is very little time left before the start of spring field work. The most important tasks are ensuring the supply of irrigation water, preparing quality seed material, technical maintenance, supplying fertilizers and fuel, as well as sharing experiences and implementing modern agricultural technologies," noted Zhantaev.
According to him, there are 269 reservoirs in the region with a total designed capacity of 253.145 million cubic meters, and currently, 168.81 million cubic meters of water have been accumulated in them. In 2026, 120 million soms are allocated from the state budget for the restoration and repair of irrigation facilities, while last year, 293.4 million soms were directed for these purposes.
The allocated funds will be used for the restoration of 579 hydraulic structures, 516 water accounting posts, one pumping station, as well as for the mechanical cleaning of 609 kilometers of canals and the manual cleaning of 740 kilometers of field canals, including the repair of 231.5 kilometers of canals.
