In Kyrgyzstan, despite the imposed ban on the export of live livestock, meat prices have not significantly increased. The head of the food security department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Uran Chekirbaev, shared this information on the radio.

The ban on the export of live animals was introduced in August of last year, which, according to Chekirbaev, helped prevent a sharp rise in meat prices in the domestic market. He also mentioned the possibility of extending this ban in the coming months, as the inflation rate remains high.

According to the National Bank, although inflation on food products has generally decreased, prices for non-food goods continue to rise. Chekirbaev emphasized that meat prices are stable and do not show significant fluctuations. The ministry, along with local authorities, is conducting constant monitoring of prices.

Note:

On February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry submitted a draft law for public discussion regarding the extension of the ban on the export of live livestock for six months. This initiative aims to ensure the domestic meat market and stabilize prices amid rising consumption and inflationary risks.
