The father of silver medalist Munarbek Seyitbek uulu from the Paris Olympics has passed away.

In Osh, on February 26, Seyitbek Toktosunov passed away at the age of 67, father of the well-known silver medalist of the Olympic Games Munarbek Seyitbek uulu. This information was confirmed by the territorial administration of Manas-Ata, according to Turmush.

Currently, the causes of Seyitbek's death are not disclosed. The farewell ceremony and funeral will take place in Osh.

Munarbek Seyitbek uulu became a silver medalist at the Summer Olympic Games held in 2024 in Paris, as well as winning bronze at the 2023 World Championship.

The athlete was born in Osh and began boxing at the age of eight. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Physical Education of Osh State University.

Since 2017, Munarbek has represented the national team. He became the country champion in 2018 and the vice-champion in 2019.

In 2023, at the World Championship held in Tashkent, he won a bronze medal, making him one of the first medalists of the world championship in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan.

At the 2024 Olympics in Paris, in the weight category up to 57 kg, Munarbek reached the final, where he lost in a tense battle to the Uzbek athlete Abdumalik Halokov.

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, noted the athlete's achievements, awarding him a cash prize and a car.
