The volume of gross agricultural production for 2025 amounted to nearly 460 billion dollars

Today, February 27, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Erlis Akunbekov, delivered a report at a national meeting dedicated to the results of work in the real sector of the economy for 2025, as well as key indicators and priorities for further development.

In his speech, he emphasized that the real sector of the economy showed stable growth and strengthened its production capabilities. Akunbekov noted that in 2026, the focus will be on increasing production volumes, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the competitiveness of local products.

According to him, agriculture contributes about 10% to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and provides jobs for 20% of the economically active population. In 2024, the gross agricultural output amounted to 396.8 billion soms, and in 2025 it increased to 459.7 billion soms, which is 63 billion soms more.

“Our main task is to increase productivity and transform the agricultural sector into a modern, competitive, and market-oriented industry. In recent years, we have paid special attention to state support for this sector. In 2025, 12.6 billion soms were allocated for preferential lending, and there has also been an improvement in the material and technical base of agriculture, with the number of machinery increasing to 92,000 units,” he added.

The Deputy Prime Minister reported on the continuation of the modernization of irrigation infrastructure. In 2025, an additional 4,455 hectares of irrigated land were put into operation, which is 22 times more than the indicators of 2024. 1.7 billion soms were allocated from the republican budget for the development of irrigation, with work ongoing on 41 projects and construction work on 33 sites. Clean drinking water was provided for 40 rural settlements, and over 75,000 people gained access to water. For the implementation of measures to ensure clean drinking water, 3.7 billion soms were allocated, and the construction of a water supply system continues in 25 cities and 601 villages.

Speaking about the energy sector, Akunbekov noted that Kyrgyzstan is entering a new phase of development. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to modernize and expand the energy infrastructure. In 2025, the installed capacity increased by 213.6 MW due to the replacement of hydro units at the Toktogul and Uch-Korgon hydropower plants, as well as the commissioning of 8 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 44.6 MW and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW in the Kemin district. In the same year, the CASA-1000 power transmission line between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was commissioned, and work is ongoing to introduce a second unit with a capacity of 120 MW at the Kambar-Ata HPP-2. In 2026, it is planned to commission 13 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 80.6 MW and solar power plants with a capacity of 850 MW.

Regarding the mining industry, Erlis Akunbekov noted its stable growth and significant contribution to the budget. Tax revenues from mining companies amounted to 41.5 billion soms in 2024 and 65.4 billion soms in 2025, which corresponds to a growth of 58%.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reported on the results in the construction sector. In 2025, 3.5 million square meters of facilities were put into operation, while in 2024 this figure was 2 million square meters. The number of social facilities commissioned last year was 291, which is 61 more than in 2024. This includes 129 schools, 60 kindergartens, 26 healthcare facilities, 35 cultural and sports facilities, and 41 social infrastructure facilities. For 2025, 3,814 new facilities are included in the registry of construction projects, compared to 3,567 in 2024.

According to Akunbekov, in 2025, 40.2 billion soms were allocated for construction under the housing program "My Home," which is twice as much compared to 2024. Currently, 80,660 apartments are being built in the regions of the country, which will significantly increase the housing stock.

He also spoke about the development of the transport sector. In 2025, more than 1,545 kilometers of asphalt pavement were laid, which is twice the figures of 2024. 43.4 billion soms were allocated from the republican budget for the development of road infrastructure. The Balykchy-Kochkor road has been extended to the Kochkor station, and 43 kilometers of main structures have been built, while in August 2025, the construction of the Barskoon-Bedel road, 150 kilometers long, began.

In conclusion of the report, Erlis Akunbekov shared information about the aviation sector. The country's airports acquired three aircraft for a total of 2.385 billion soms from their own funds. Plans include replenishing the fleet with a Q400 model aircraft and acquiring two Airbus A321s. 8.4 billion soms were allocated for the modernization of the internal infrastructure of airports. Currently, all 11 airports are certified and operate normally.

It is worth noting that the national meeting to summarize the results of 2025 is taking place at "Yntymak Ordo" with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov.

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of state bodies, presidential representatives in the regions, mayors of Bishkek and Osh, as well as district akims are participating in the event.
