The head of the water policy and drinking water supply department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Bolotbek Tashtanov, spoke on the radio about the two stages of preparation for spring fieldwork, which begins after the harvest is completed and continues until the start of the sowing campaign.

Tashtanov reported that for 2026, the repair of inter-farm canals with a total length of 776 km is planned, along with the restoration of 590 hydraulic structures and the installation of 508 water measurement posts. These devices play a key role in accurately accounting for the volume of water supplied and controlling its distribution.

To meet the water needs of farmers, underground wells are also used, and currently, about 2,500 water intake wells are in operation. As part of the upcoming activities until 2026, it is planned to launch 91 pumping stations, which, according to Tashtanov, will help provide farmers with additional water supply in conditions of water scarcity from primary sources.

In addition, a mechanism for redistributing water between irrigation systems will be implemented, allowing excess water from one system to be directed to another to achieve balance and fully meet the needs of agricultural producers.
