Prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in Kazakhstan continue to rise, reports Ulysmedia.kz.

In January 2026, we are witnessing the highest increase in gasoline prices compared to similar periods in recent years. As for diesel fuel, the largest price increase was recorded in January 2024 — by 14.3%.

The highest increase in gasoline prices was registered in the Pavlodar region (CPI 126.3%), followed by Astana (120%), as well as the Abay, Almaty, and Ulytau regions. The lowest price growth is observed in the West Kazakhstan region (112%).

In major cities such as Astana and Almaty, gasoline prices remain high. For example, in the capital, the average cost of AI-92 gasoline is 251 tenge per liter, with an overall city average of 236 tenge. In Almaty, AI-98 gasoline costs an average of 322 tenge, which is 10.2% higher than in other cities, while in Almaty itself, it is sold for 355 tenge per liter. High prices for AI-92 gasoline have also been recorded in Zhezkazgan (242 tenge) and Taldykorgan (239 tenge). The lowest prices for AI-92 gasoline can be found in Turkestan (224 tenge) and Atyrau (218 tenge), according to Finprom data.

The moratorium on the increase in AI-92 gasoline prices will be in effect until the end of March. This measure is aimed at curbing inflation. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy previously stated that if the moratorium is lifted, sharp price jumps for fuel are not expected.
