In Kyrgyzstan, there are currently 86 seed-growing farms that are engaged in both the production and sale of seeds for various agricultural crops. This was revealed by Bakyt Mambetov, the director of the Department for the Expertise of Agricultural Crops and Horticulture under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, during a radio broadcast.

According to Mambetov, these farms focus on the production of seeds for cereal crops, perennial grasses such as sainfoin and alfalfa, as well as potatoes. In recent years, they have also begun to develop corn seed production.

“In 2023, about 14 nurseries were selected, which provided planting material totaling approximately 3.8 million seedlings of fruit and berry crops. By 2024, this figure has increased to more than 8.7 million, and in 2025, it is expected to reach 12 million 152 thousand seedlings. Currently, about 11 more nurseries are being prepared to receive status, and the total volume of planting material has already exceeded 15 million seedlings,” he noted.

The head of the department also added that in recent years, nurseries have begun to pay more attention to the production of ornamental plants, which is due to the growing demand for them in connection with the development of individual housing construction and the improvement of private plots.
