Today, October 16, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Samuel Ablaakwa. The negotiations focused on the possibilities of deepening bilateral cooperation, as well as areas of mutual interest for both countries.

Japarov emphasized that despite the distance between the states, Kyrgyzstan shows an active interest in expanding ties with Ghana in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

He also noted that Kyrgyzstan is actively developing partnerships with African countries, mentioning the opening of an embassy in Ethiopia last year and the planned opening of a diplomatic mission in Egypt.

The President added that in February of this year, Kyrgyzstan became an observer in the African Union, which creates additional opportunities for cooperation, especially during Ghana's presidency in the union in 2027.

Samuel Ablaakwa conveyed greetings from the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and invited Japarov to visit Ghana next year in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the country's independence and the upcoming presidency in the African Union.

The Ghanaian minister highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Kyrgyzstan, including anti-corruption measures and the protection of national interests, particularly regarding the "Kumtor" issue. He highlighted construction, digitalization, the agro-industrial complex, and tourism as key areas for joint cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Japarov and Minister Ablaakwa expressed hope that this visit would mark the beginning of a new era in strengthening mutual relations between Kyrgyzstan and Ghana.
