President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with Samuel Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana.

As reported by the president's press service, the issues of deepening cooperation between the two countries were discussed, as well as the prospects for joint work in areas of mutual interest.

The head of state emphasized that, despite the significant distance between the countries, Kyrgyzstan shows interest in developing bilateral and multilateral relations with Ghana.

Sadyr Japarov highlighted active efforts to strengthen ties with African countries. He mentioned that last year the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan was opened in Ethiopia, and in the coming months, a representative office is planned to be opened in Egypt.

Additionally, he emphasized that in February of this year, Kyrgyzstan became an observer in the African Union, which provides new opportunities for cooperation, especially in the context of Ghana's presidency in 2027.

For his part, Samuel Ablakwa conveyed warm greetings from the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and invited Sadyr Japarov to visit Ghana next year when the country will celebrate the 70th anniversary of its independence and will chair the African Union.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana expressed satisfaction with the high pace of reforms in Kyrgyzstan, including the fight against corruption and the protection of national interests, particularly in the context of the "Kumtor" issue. He highlighted construction, digitalization, tourism, and the agro-industrial complex as key areas for joint work.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Sadyr Japarov and Samuel Ablakwa expressed hope that this visit would mark the beginning of a new era in the development of friendly and business relations between Kyrgyzstan and Ghana.
