An attempt to illegally export livestock was thwarted at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border

According to the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan, an attempt to illegally export sheep was thwarted at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

According to the information from the Border Service, officers of the Leilek Border Detachment, acting together with representatives of the State Committee for National Security, stopped a vehicle that was attempting to transport livestock past official checkpoints.

As a result of the operation, a Volkswagen Crafter truck was detained, which contained 36 sheep being transported without the necessary veterinary and accompanying documents. The estimated value of the detained livestock is about 1 million soms.

The driver of another vehicle, a SsangYong Rexton Sports, attempted to obstruct the actions of the border guards to help the truck avoid detention and break through to the border.

Three local residents of the Batken region have been detained in connection with this case, suspected of assisting in the illegal export of livestock.

The materials related to the incident have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
