As a result of the incident, 11 people were hospitalized
According to the press service of the Bishkek mayor's office, the fire started in the palliative care unit of the nursing home, covering an area of about 30 square meters.
Firefighters arrived at the scene within nine minutes. Four units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, as well as an ambulance crew.
As a result of the incident, two residents who were in critical condition died, and 11 people were hospitalized for observation due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
The mayor noted that fire and tactical drills were conducted at the facility in July 2025, and all fire safety measures were followed. The main building of the nursing home was not damaged—the fire occurred only in one room of the palliative care unit. Evacuation of residents will be carried out if necessary, as clarified by the press service.
It was also reported that the mayor instructed the responsible services to check the documentation to clarify all circumstances of the incident. The causes of the fire will be determined based on the analysis of the competent authorities.
