The Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic has once again emphasized the importance for employers to comply with the deadlines for salary payments in accordance with the new provisions of the Labor Code.
The agency clarified that the document introduces a uniform penalty rate for delays in salary payments to employees.
In the event of untimely payment of salaries, vacation pay, or final settlements upon termination, the employer is obliged to additionally pay a penalty of 0.25% of the amount owed for each overdue day until the actual payment is made.
The new Labor Code also establishes a statute of limitations for such cases. An employee has the right to go to court within three years from the date when the payment was supposed to be made.
The Ministry noted that these measures are aimed at protecting the labor rights of citizens and increasing the accountability of employers.
