Monetary Awards and Certificates of Honor: How Veterans of Afghanistan Were Congratulated in the Ak-Talinsky District

In the Naryn region, in the Ak-Tal district, a commemorative event was held dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

On February 15, at the initiative of the district administration, the chairman of the veterans' council, and Sharshembek Murzabekov, a pre-conscription training instructor at the Shukurbek Beyshenaliyev school, a military-cultural event took place in honor of the veterans of the Afghan war. This event was attended by both Afghan veterans and representatives of the authorities, heads of institutions, village leaders, as well as teachers and students.

First, the veterans laid wreaths at the monument to the soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Batken, located in the village of Bayetov, after which a prayer was conducted. Then, a military-cultural program prepared by Murzabekov took place at the Beyshenaliyev school. The students demonstrated their skills in marching and rapid assembly and disassembly of a rifle, as well as performed a small concert.

At the end of the program, the veterans were congratulated by the district leadership, village heads, and leaders of institutions and public organizations. The veterans received 20,000 soms from the district administration, letters of appreciation, and honorary certificates. The village heads presented cash rewards to each veteran ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 soms, and some of them were awarded by the military commissariat.

A total of 51 fighters from the Ak-Tal district participated in the Afghan war. One of them died, and 50 returned home. Subsequently, 7 more veterans passed away from their injuries.
