This Sunday, February 22, residents will be able to enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional holiday — Maslenitsa. The main events titled "Ay, da Maslenitsa!" will take place in the square in front of the Ministry of Culture and the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan at Pushkin 78. The celebration will begin at 11:00.
Maslenitsa in Bishkek has become not just a date on the calendar, but a true festival of unity and cultural exchange. The organizers promise to create a unique atmosphere featuring folk games, painting workshops, a crafts fair, and national-style face painting. There will be entertainers and creative areas for children, where everyone can make their own Maslenitsa doll.
Professional performers will provide the musical accompaniment. The stage will feature the groups "Souvenir," "Smile," as well as the Caucasian dance ensemble "Islamay" and dancers from "Assol." Live sound and folk rhythms will create a festive atmosphere for all guests.
The culmination of the event will be the traditional ritual of bidding farewell to winter, which includes a large round dance and the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy. This symbolic act will unite participants in anticipation of spring and renewal. The holiday is organized by the cultural center "Harmony" with the support of the Russian Embassy, the Bishkek City Hall, and the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan.
For those who prefer to spend time outdoors, Maslenitsa festivities will also be offered in the Karagach Grove. Capital guests are invited to come with their families to enjoy the weekend in an atmosphere of warmth and friendship.
