
The First May District Court of Bishkek has decided to place Eldar Jakypbekov, who previously held the position of head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) in Bishkek, in custody for two months. This information was provided by the Kabar agency, citing court data.
The request for detention was submitted by the head of the investigative department of the Military Prosecutor's Office, as well as the head of the interagency investigative group.
Jakypbekov has been charged under part 1 of Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, which pertains to corrupt activities. According to the court ruling, the term of his detention expires on April 15.
At the moment, the former head of the GKNB is in a detention facility located at the Bishkek City Police Department. It was previously reported that his detention was carried out with the involvement of the Military Prosecutor's Office.
