Abdyzhaparkul Janbolotov, the deputy director of the transport and infrastructure development department of the Bishkek city administration, announced plans for the construction of a transport interchange. The project will be financed from the local budget and will be located at the intersection of Young Guard Boulevard and Leo Tolstoy Street.
According to him, the project was completed last year and has been included in the title list of road construction for 2026 this year.
“As soon as the budget and title list are approved, we will start the implementation of the project. Then a competition will be held to select a contractor, after which we will sign a contract and begin construction,” noted Janbolotov.
In addition, he reported on plans to create another interchange — project work is currently underway at the intersection of Aitmatov Avenue and Mederov Street, where a small interchange is being designed. He also mentioned the preparation of projects for interchanges at other key intersections, such as Ankara and April 7 Streets, Fuchik and Leo Tolstoy Streets, and Jibek-Jolu and Profsoyuznaya Streets.
According to Abdyzhaparkul Janbolotov, plans for 2026 also include the repair of about 120 km of roads, as well as the construction of several bridges and 20 underground crossings.
“On the new streets that will be planned, we will definitely provide traffic lights, complete road infrastructure, and lighting,” he added.
