Road repairs and reconstruction are continuing in Bishkek as part of a project that started last year. Abdijaparkul Janbolotov, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the capital's mayor's office, shared details about this on the air of Birinchi Radio.
According to Janbolotov, the results of the road and bridge construction and reconstruction work have been quite positive. "In 2025, we completed the plan, which amounted to 92 kilometers of reconstruction and construction. However, some streets will only be completed in 2026," he noted.
One of the major projects is Deng Xiaoping Street, where large-scale repairs began last year and were completed by spring. However, due to the start of the school season and the return of workers from vacation, the southern part of the street has been postponed until 2026. Work on this street will continue this year.
Janbolotov also reported that Leo Tolstoy Street has been completed from Ibraimov to Termechikov, but a small section from Termechikov to Timur Frunze remains, which is planned to be finished this year.
Currently, work is ongoing to extend Bakayev Street from Leo Tolstoy to Bokonbaev. Janbolotov noted that social media claims that work has been ongoing for four years, although in fact it only started in November 2024.
"Last year we almost completed the repairs, but there were issues with relocating gas lines. All engineering networks, except for gas, were relocated, and Gazprom had to coordinate the project with Moscow. This delayed the work by a year; however, this year the gas networks have already been relocated, and we are ready to complete the remaining work. With the warming, we will start laying asphalt," he added.
Additionally, Janbolotov mentioned the need to construct a sewage system for drainage, which should connect to the Ala-Archa River. He noted that there are difficulties with clearing the area, as some plots were transferred to the Red Book in 2022. This issue is currently being worked on, as the extension of the street must continue. "Some believe that this section is pointless, but it will connect to Beshinaliev Street, making it a full street. This year we will continue the road extension and the construction of a bridge over Ala-Archa," Janbolotov explained.
According to him, in addition to the three mentioned streets, there is one more important direction. In the Sverdlovsk district, Kalinin Street was completed last year, and a bridge over Auezov was built. The remaining section of Auezov from Jibek-Jolu to Saliev Street will continue this year, as this work is included in the plan for this year as a carryover.
