In 2022, the city of Tokmok will be remembered for a special event: on July 9, a festive Eid prayer was held for the first time, and possibly the last time, in the central square named after Sultan Ibraimov.

This event, dedicated to Kurban Eid, took place not in mosques, as is traditionally done, but in an open square, which attracted a significant number of people.

According to information provided by the imam of Tokmok, Imirjan Kasymov, between 8,000 and 9,000 believers attended the event. "Previously, Eid prayers always took place in mosques. This was our first experience of holding it in the square," he noted.

Despite the fact that there are 20 mosques operating in Tokmok, such an event in the city's main square remained unique. According to local residents, since that summer day in 2022, Eid prayers have not been held in the central square, and the prayers have returned to the mosques.

Many city dwellers remember that day as an important moment of unity, as the central square allowed such a large number of people to gather in one place.
