When does the Ait prayer start? The festive prayer begins 30 minutes after sunrise and ends with the start of the noon prayer.
Is the Ait prayer obligatory for everyone? In Islam, there are four main schools of thought: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali. According to the Hanafi and Hanbali schools, the Ait prayer is obligatory, while the Shafi'is and Malikis consider it desirable (Sunnah).
Who is exempt from the Ait prayer?Travelers and women are not required to perform the festive prayer; however, they may participate if they wish.
What to do if you miss the Ait prayer? If you miss the festive prayer, according to the Shafi'i school, it is desirable to make it up as a missed prayer. This can be done at any time. Hanafi scholars, on the other hand, assert that if the collective Ait prayer was missed, it can be made up the next day.
