The Royal Spanish Football Federation (Rfef) is surprised and concerned that Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal underwent surgery without prior notification to the national team's medical staff. The 18-year-old player reportedly underwent a radiofrequency procedure to treat groin pain on November 6, the day the Spanish national team began preparations for the November matches.

The federation claims it was not informed in advance about the medical procedure. In an official statement, Rfef said: "The medical services of Rfef were surprised to learn on November 10, the day the training camp began, that Lamine Yamal underwent an invasive procedure that morning without notification."

Additional information about the procedure was received only late in the evening at 22:40, recommending 7–10 days of recovery. As a result, the player was released from participation in the gathering, as the health and safety of the footballer remain a priority for the federation.

The national team head coach Luis de la Fuente also commented on this, emphasizing that he is not familiar with such cases. "I have never encountered anything like this. I don't think it's normal to suddenly learn about medical issues," he noted.

Lamine Yamal, who has played 23 matches for the national team, has scored 6 goals and provided 6 assists in 11 games for Barcelona this season.

Currently, the Spanish national team confidently occupies the top spot in Group E, having 12 points after four matches, while not conceding a single goal. In the coming days, the team will face Georgia in Tbilisi on Saturday and Turkey in Seville on Tuesday.

Spain can secure a place in the final stage of the tournament if they win against Georgia, and Turkey does not win against Bulgaria, or in the case of a draw, if Turkey suffers a defeat.
