Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have created a joint championship

The Hockey Federation of Kyrgyzstan announced that the countries have decided to organize a joint hockey championship, which will be called the Open Championship of Uzbekistan this season, as reported by Sport AKIpress.

Five teams will participate in the tournament: three from Uzbekistan and two from Kyrgyzstan.

According to the vice president of the federation, Elzar Bolotbekov, next year the competition is planned to be renamed the Cross-Border Championship, and this name has already received approval from the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The preliminary stage matches will take place in November and December 2025, as well as in January and February 2026. Each team will play 14 games, both at home and away.

The top four teams from this stage will advance to the semifinals.

Subsequently, the semifinal and final games will be held in a best-of-seven format.

From Kyrgyzstan, the teams "SDYUSHORSI Alga" and "Uchur" will participate in the tournament. "SDYUSHORSI Alga" consists of players from the youth national team, while the roster of "Uchur" includes players from the national team," Bolotbekov specified.

In Bishkek, 14 matches are scheduled to take place in November.
