Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently serving as a senior advisor at RedBird, the owner of the "Milan" club, will be one of the torchbearers for the 2026 Winter Olympics. He will participate in the relay that will pass through several cities in Italy.
Other participants in the relay include footballers such as Ciro Ferrara, former defender of the Italian national team, as well as Alisha Lehmann from the women's "Como" team and Andrea Soncin, the coach of the Italian women's national team.
The torch relay began in late November in Olympia, Greece, and will officially be handed over to Italy in Athens on December 4. The Italian part of the relay will start on December 6 in Rome and will pass through 60 cities, concluding in Milan on February 5, 2026, one day before the opening of the Olympics at the "Giuseppe Meazza" Stadium (San Siro).
The 44-year-old Ibrahimovic is one of the greatest forwards of his time, having played for clubs such as "Ajax," "Juventus," "Inter," "Barcelona," PSG, "Manchester United," "LA Galaxy," and "Milan," winning 34 titles at the club level. He is also the all-time leading scorer for the Swedish national team.
Due to the opening ceremony, the Serie A match between "Milan" and "Como" may be rescheduled, with one of the possible venues being the Australian city of Perth.
