From December 1 to 3, 2025, the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh, will make a state visit to Italy at the invitation of Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Italian Republic.
This event is timed to the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Italy and will be the first visit at the level of heads of state in the last 14 years. It is worth noting that the previous working visit to Italy was made by former President Bagabandi Natsag in 2000, and on October 17, 2011, an official visit was made by Elbegdorj Tsakhia, who was invited by the then President of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, who is now deceased.
During the upcoming trip, the presidents of the two countries will hold individual meetings and official negotiations. In addition, Khurelsukh Ukhna will meet with Lorenzo Fontana, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy.
It is expected that during the visit, progress will be made in strengthening the traditionally friendly relations, and agreements on cooperation in areas such as culture, education, science, natural resources, infrastructure, civil defense, local development, sports, tourism, and media will be signed.
In honor of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations, a concert by the Mongolian Philharmonic Orchestra will take place in Rome, and a joint business forum will also be organized.
Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Italy were established on June 29, 1970. Mongolia opened its embassy in Rome in October 2011, while Italy opened its embassy in Ulaanbaatar in July 2016.
