The signing of the agreement was the result of a meeting between Batbaatar Bat, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, and Albert Rösti, the Minister of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications of Switzerland. During this meeting, a productive exchange of views on the bilateral relations between the two countries took place.
It is worth noting that in August 2024, during the visit of the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, to Mongolia, which was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing cooperation, especially in the area of combating climate change.
Since the signing of the agreement, representatives of Mongolia and Switzerland have been actively working on developing a comprehensive document that will serve as the basis for joint actions and long-term partnership.
