The long-term cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Mongolia and the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany aims to strengthen bilateral ties in the field of defense and develop a strategic partnership.

The document was signed by the Minister of Defense of Mongolia, Batlult Damba, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Mongolia, Helmut Kulitz.

As part of this agreement, Germany allocated €1 million to improve the training potential and logistical infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Mongolia. This step continues Germany's long-standing support for Mongolia's defense.

One notable example of this cooperation is the recent funding for the construction of a modern climbing training center for the Mongolian mountain infantry battalion in Bayan-Ölgii province, which costs €1.5 million. This initiative underscores Germany's unwavering commitment to strengthening Mongolia's specialized military capabilities.

Since 2009, German military personnel have regularly conducted joint training courses in Mongolia, contributing to the professional development of Mongolian servicemen in various fields. These efforts have particularly helped Mongolia prepare for UN peacekeeping operations and enhance skills in conducting combat operations in mountainous conditions.

The defense cooperation between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany is based on mutual trust and shared strategic interests, and has successfully developed over the past 15 years. During the signing of the agreement, both parties confirmed that defense cooperation remains a key element of a broader strategic friendship.
