The degree of Honorary Doctor was awarded in recognition of her contribution to the study of the history and culture of Mongolia, as well as to the development of Mongolian studies. This decision was made based on the Regulations on Awards and the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute of Mongolian Studies.
The award ceremony took place in the main educational building of the Mongolian State University and gathered scholars, professors, researchers, and students who came to honor the work of Anna Damdinovna.
Anna Damdinovna Tsendina has extensive experience: from 1977 to 1990, she was a broadcaster for the State Television and Radio of the USSR, and then from 1990 to 2005, she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Since 2005, she has held the position of professor at the Institute of Classical East and Antiquity of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, and since 2017, she has continued teaching at the Higher School of Economics.
Among her awards are the medal "In Memory of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow" (1997), the award named after Academician Ts. Damdinsuren, as well as the title "Best Scholar in the Field of Mongolian Studies" (2008). In 2014, she was awarded the "Kublai Khan" medal by the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia and the "Nairamdal" medal. In 2017, in recognition of her achievements in science, she was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Science of Mongolia" by the decree of the President of Mongolia.
Anna Damdinovna actively collaborates with the Institute of Mongolian Studies at MongSU, working on the dissemination of the scientific heritage of Academician Tsendiin Damdinsuren. She is the author of several books, including: the nine-volume collected works of Ts. Damdinsuren, "The Mongolian Sutra of Altangerel," "The Sutra of Molon Toyna," "Historical Source," "Register of Mongolian Books and Sutras in the Apartment-Museum of Ts. Damdinsuren," and "Diary of Ts. Damdinsuren."
