Baytur Anvar (1938-1991), a prominent scholar and historian of modern Kyrgyz people.He was born in the village of Boz-Den near the city of Ak-Suu in Eastern Turkestan. He received his initial education at a rural school (mektep), and then at a teacher training institution ("Dar al-muallimin" - "House of Teachers") in the city of Ak-Suu. From 1953 to 1956, he was a student at the historical-geographical faculty of the Xinjiang Institute in the city of Urumqi. Since 1956, he worked in various scientific institutions of the People's Republic of China. From the late 1970s, he worked in Beijing at the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Institute for Advanced Training, and the Central Institute of National Minorities. He was an associate professor at the Institute for the Study of National Minorities of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
He lectured at Xinjiang University in the city of Urumqi. In 1990, he was invited to give lectures in Turkey, where his life was tragically cut short in January 1991. He was buried with honors in the city of Urumqi.
He published a number of monographs and textbooks, including works such as "Historical Relations between Xinjiang and the Inner Regions (of China)," "The General State of Kyrgyz Literature," "Lectures on Kyrgyz History" (Artysh: Publishing House of the Kyzyl-Suu Kyrgyz, 1986; reprinted from Arabic script to Cyrillic: "Uchkun," Bishkek, 1992 - books 1-2), and others.
