At the meeting, the need to strengthen and disseminate successful practices and results of projects implemented by the GEF in Mongolia was discussed. The parties noted the importance of environmental policies and programs supported by the GEF, as well as the possibility of expanding new initiatives proposed by Minister Batbaatar Batomi to the stage of practical implementation.
The discussion also touched upon the necessity of involving all stakeholders to address issues that go beyond the environmental sphere and require intersectoral coordination. This approach, as noted, plays a key role in enhancing the level of education in sustainable development and expanding its influence.
Furthermore, the participants of the meeting reached an agreement on joint efforts to improve decision-making processes, participation, and investments, which will be an important step in preparing for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
