The fire that started in the Erdenetsagaan somon was completely extinguished by Monday evening, according to the Emergency Management Agency.

Experts point out that most grassland fires occur due to careless handling of fire and human negligence, especially in the autumn period when grass is actively burned.

In this regard, the Emergency Management Agency strongly urges residents to refrain from lighting bonfires and throwing cigarette butts on the ground in dry weather conditions.

According to environmentalists, Mongolia is among the countries in East Asia most susceptible to climate change. Due to its geographical location, the country faces increasing natural disasters caused by global climate change, including forest and grassland fires, desertification and land degradation, as well as dust storms.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change notes that only 7.9 percent of Mongolia's territory is covered by forests, while approximately 77 percent is susceptible to desertification and degradation.
