Currently, the factory employs 750 staff members, and its annual production capacity is 500 tons of raw cashmere, 200 tons of yarn, 500,000 knitwear items, 150,000 woven items, and 15,000 sewn products. The visit of the President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhna and the Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry Enkhbayar Jadamba to the "Evsug" factory was organized to monitor the implementation of the "White Gold" initiative, as reported by the Ministry.
As part of the "White Gold" program, Cashmere Holding LLC received favorable investment and working capital loans from commercial banks. These funds were directed towards upgrading spinning, winding, and de-greasing equipment, as well as expanding production capacities and increasing cashmere purchases from local sources.
In accordance with the program initiated by the President of Mongolia, the government also provided the company with support for interest rates on loans. This allowed for an increase in raw material purchases, modernization of production processes, and expansion of cashmere processing. Thus, the company currently exports cashmere and wool to the USA, Germany, China, South Korea, the UK, Italy, Japan, and Russia, contributing to an increase in foreign currency inflows into the country.
The cashmere processing factories in Mongolia have a total production capacity of 13,122 tons of combed cashmere per year, of which 8,957 tons can be processed by local enterprises, and 4,165 tons by companies with foreign investments.
Despite the total livestock population in Mongolia being 57.6 million heads, as of 2024, the share of wool, cashmere, leather, and hides in the total export volume is less than three percent. However, cashmere sales account for more than 40 percent of the annual income of herders.
