According to information provided by Reuters, the organizers of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will take place in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, have decided to reduce the expected number of spectators by 15 percent due to serious transportation issues.

The reason for this decision is the significant delay in the construction of a new gondola lift, which was supposed to facilitate the transportation of spectators to the mountainous areas, as well as anticipated major traffic jams.

Massimo Bortolucci, the local transportation advisor, confirmed that the initial estimate of 200,000 spectators has been revised.

The Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place in Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026.
