The UN Climate Summit in 2026 will take place in Turkey, as reported by Reuters.
Two countries competed to host the summit, but it was ultimately decided to hold the conference in Antalya, chaired by Australia. Both parties now have a year to prepare for this important event.
Australia presented its bid as the "Pacific COP," collaborating with island nations that are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and rising sea levels. The Australian side has already allocated about $4.5 million for the summit preparations, hoping for support from many countries.
Turkey, hosting COP31, emphasized that as a developing republic, it aims to strengthen solidarity between developed and developing nations, making the summit more inclusive rather than limited to regional issues.
The COP30 is currently taking place in Belém (Brazil), where countries are discussing measures to combat climate change, reduce emissions, and support the most vulnerable nations.
