The Cabinet has postponed the agricultural census to next year

“The decision was made to ensure high-quality data collection”

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has postponed the agricultural census, which will now take place from March 20 to April 10, 2026.

According to the press service of the cabinet, this decision is aimed at ensuring quality data collection.

Previously, the census was planned to be conducted from October 20 to November 10 of this year.

It is important to note that the agricultural census is conducted once every ten years and represents a significant national statistical event, the purpose of which is to obtain complete, objective, and reliable information about the state and structure of agriculture in the country. This data will serve as the basis for developing effective agricultural policy, ensuring food security, and sustainable development of rural areas,” the cabinet emphasized.

In addition, the government added that the census will allow for the collection of accurate data on the following criteria:

- Structure and number of agricultural enterprises and farms of all forms of ownership;
- Volumes and types of agricultural production;
- Availability of labor, material, and land resources;
- Livestock and poultry numbers;
- Features of farming practices and level of mechanization.

Preparation for the census began in 2024, during which pilot activities have already been conducted in two regions. The completion of the census is planned for March 2026.

We remind you that the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic has clarified that 277.7 million soms have been allocated from the republican budget for the census, and support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the amount of 55 thousand US dollars is also provided.
